Before Christmas we interviewed Mrs.Farrelly, a woman who has lived in the area since 1958. As we interviewed Mrs.Farrelly Brendan Smith recorded us. Interviewing Mrs.Farrelly was very interesting as she knows a lot about the area.

Let's Put on a Show!

Thursday the 15th of January, Cherie paid a visit to our school. We were to begin preparation for the school show.The school show is called "Lets put on a show".Cherie taught us different dance moves and how to project our voice on stage. We all had a great time!

New Year Litter Picking

On Friday the 9th of January 2009 our class went litter picking. It was a bright sunny day but very cold. It was our first week back after the Christmas holidays. We managed to find lots of litter. We even found lots of unusual litter like socks!! Now the school grounds are a lot cleaner.

Pinhole Camera

To make a pinhole camera you need: sellotape, a cardboard cylinder (empty toilet roll), some rubber bands, greaseproof paper, black paper, tinfoil and pins.


First we brought in an empty toilet roll.
On one end of the toilet roll we put on some tinfoil.
On the other end we put on greaseproof paper.
We put an elastic band on the tinfoil and greaseproof to make sure they didn’t fall off.
Then we put a little hole through the tinfoil.
We made a tube with black paper and stuck it halfway down the toilet roll.
We sellotaped the black paper so it didn’t fall.

When we used our cameras to look through the window at the houses opposite the school the houses appeared upside down.

Congratulations to Ryan who won fantastic soccer equipment for the school in the Galway United Design a Jersey competition.

Tirellan Calendar Prizewinner

Congratulations to Aoife who won a prize in the Tirellan Residents Association Calender competition for her summer picture.

The mayor of Galway came to the school to present Aoife with her prize.
